Grapevine Designs
Residential interior design for new builds and renovations, led by Lisa Moody and named one of Canada's top 100 design firms. In Surrey.

Four years in a row, House & Home magazine has named Grapevine Designs one of Canada’s top 100 design firms. The studio behind that list sits in Surrey, led by Lisa Moody, who was born here, raised her kids here and has never really left. Her specialty is the big, complicated residential project: a new build or a whole home renovation where every drawing, finish and fixture has to land in the right place, and where the result still has to feel warm enough to live in.
From a High School Mentor to a Surrey Design Studio
Design has been part of Lisa’s life since high school. One of her teachers left teaching to become a designer, the two stayed in touch, and Lisa went to work for her straight after graduating. She took courses along the way and has worked in design in one form or another her whole adult life.
Over the last fifteen years she has built a team, with Kierra Morrison running the office, and focused the studio on full construction drawing packages for renovations and new construction. Decades of working locally also mean long standing relationships with builders, trades and suppliers around the Lower Mainland.
A Classic, Warm Look Recognized Across Canada
The studio describes itself as the personal touch of a boutique studio combined with the expertise of a large design firm. In practice that shows up as a classic, warm and sophisticated look: timeless finishes, custom millwork and fixtures chosen to last, rather than a showroom of whatever is popular this season.
Interior Design for New Builds and Large Renovations
Most of the studio’s work is residential, from large new builds to whole home renovations, along with a number of smaller commercial projects. Right now Lisa and her team are working on three oceanfront condos, each looking out at the water from a different angle, plus a large oceanfront home.
Expect the full journey if you need it. It starts with a consultation, then concepts and space planning, then construction drawings, elevations and custom millwork design. After that come material, finish and fixture selections with 3D renderings and a specification package, and finally curated furniture packages and styling with art, accessories and window coverings. Seeing the finished space in renderings before any work or purchasing begins is a big part of the peace of mind the studio aims to give you before construction starts.
Your Home, Not This Year’s Trend
Lisa is proud that the studio gives clients the design they want, shaped around their own taste, instead of what happens to be trendy. Expect options rather than a single take it or leave it plan. One homeowner said Lisa came up with several ideas for a main floor that lacked kitchen space and storage, let them choose what suited them best, folded in their own ideas, and was honest when something would not work. The renovation turned out better than they had imagined.
That does not mean she just agrees with you. Another client said the team helped define their style and pushed them to try new things, and the finished condo feels modern and sophisticated but still warm and welcoming.
A Team That Solves Problems on Site
Drawings are only half the job, and this is where Grapevine stands out. The studio can bring its own contractors or work alongside the builder you already have, and Lisa stays involved once construction starts. A custom home builder who worked with her in White Rock praised her hands on approach and her ability to troubleshoot complex issues on site. One client building a waterfront vacation home across the border said the team anticipates problems before they happen and that Lisa pushes the builder and contractors toward better solutions.
Her relationships help after the build too. When a leather sofa for one client’s condo had issues, her connection with the manufacturer got it replaced twice, something the owner doubts would have happened if they had bought it on their own.
Giving Back Beyond the Studio
Lisa’s sense of community reaches past interiors. Grapevine supports Kuwasha, whose work at the Kibaale Community Centre and Timothy Girls school covers education, medical care and water projects, and Lisa was part of the team that started The Market at Wagner Hills, where residents in recovery make and sell items while building new skills. The studio also supports the Trinity Rangers, a group that brings together young adults with intellectual disabilities and Trinity Western University students.
From Oceanfront Homes to a Backyard Chicken Coop
Not every project has to be a new build. Grapevine offers virtual design for single rooms and clients farther away, and the studio even sells a full set of construction plans for a chicken coop and garden shed that attaches to a greenhouse, complete with fixture specs and coop tips. Whether your plans involve an ocean view or a few backyard hens, Lisa and her team bring the same care to getting the details right.
